Happy International Women’s Day!
In 2017, I wrote a letter dedicated to all of you (post here). That post is still one of my most read posts on this site, and people are visiting that letter every day from all around the world. In 2018, I wrote a post highlighting the accomplishments of all the amazing women in life (post here). This year, for 2019, I want to combine the two and write a letter dedicated to the women in my life that had amazing life events this year, as well to all the women out there.
Dear New Mom, congrats on this new chapter of your life! May you find the balance you desire, between taking care of your little one and going after your goals. Whatever your goals may be, whether in the office or looking after the household. You are amazing.
Dear New + Old Business Owner, may you have great success and reach all your goals, and not be questioned of your abilities in negotiations and managing the business, solely due to your gender.
Dear New Doctor + Lawyer, I am so proud of how far you have come. All those years of school, training, and taking your board/bar exams. Wishing you all the best in aiming for dream positions in fields that are pre-dominately held by men for so many years. You make me so proud.
Dear New University Student, post-secondary were the best years of my life. I found my passions, met amazing and strong women that have inspired me, and those years have taught me that we are moving towards equity + equality, and it is up to us to keep that momentum going. I wish for you to have just an amazing experience as I did.
Dear New University Graduate, you just entered your first post-grad job, and I wish you all the best. You will soon encounter and learn how to navigate gender inequality in the ‘real world’, and that we should not be passive and stand up for our rights. I believe you can make a difference.
Dear adventurous world traveler, I don’t want to sound corny or cliché, but the world is a pretty amazing place. I can’t wait to hear all your stories when you’re back, may you not be bound by your bucket list places due to fear and complications of traveling as a solo woman.
Dear Changemaker, I am so fortunate to be friends with women that are doing amazing work in policy and creating initiatives to truly pioneer change for other women in our community. Thank you for everything you do and for constantly inspiring me.
Dear Supports Of This Site, Thank you for your continuous support of my passion projects, you are all amazing ❤
