Blogmas: Christmas Expectation vs. Reality

Today’s post is one I’ve been wanting to write for awhile, I mean…looking at my Instagram feed of everyone’s perfectly edited glittery Christmas themed photos, it’s like they’re part of one big Christmas catalogue or something (lol I’m definitely guilty of this too). While I very much take part in an ‘go all out Pinterest Christmas’, I thought it would be fun to write a Christmas expectation vs. reality parody for laughs, giggles, and what not. And yes I am listening to Christmas songs as I write this, We Need a Little Christmas anyone? 😉

Taking The Photo Above
Expectation: *Ornament cake looks so pretty with the Christmas tree*
Reality: *Mom tells me we’re behind schedule so I need to quickly take this photo, and about 20 pairs of eyes at the bakery are looking at me to see what the heck is this girl doing holding a cake beside the tree* lol

Gingerbread House Making
Expectation: This house looks great, and all the candy matches so well! We even made a backyard garden!
Reality: Why won’t the icing stick!?! Why is it falling apart!? And where is all the candy, did you eat all of it already!? *looks at everyone else*

Skating
Expectation: There is nothing like skating outdoors with the Christmas music and lights.
Reality: Why are there so many people here? I can’t even move.

Present Shopping
Expectation: This year I will have everyone’s present bought at most a week before Christmas.
Reality: *Dec 23* Let’s start writing that gift list and go out tomorrow, oh no, the shops close early!

Baking
Expectation: I’m going to make some homemade Christmas tree cookies for Aunt Linda, a log cake for the office, and…
Reality: Where did all the time go? These first batch of cookies do not look like Christmas trees, where is the nearest bakery from my home?

Holiday Parties
Expectation: It’s going to be so much fun! Getting dressed up in my favourite dress/suit and partying with everyone!
Reality: Ok, I’m only going to have 2 drinks tonight max. We can’t have a repeat of last holiday. Maybe I’ll leave early too and get some extra sleep. *At the party* Oh shoot, I spilt my drink on myself already! I need another drink. At this point just keep ’em coming.

Holiday Movies
Expectation: I’m going to watch Elf, Love Actually, A Charlie Brown Christmas and maybe more in one night!
Reality: *Falls asleep at 11 pm*

Going Around the City to see Christmas Light Displays
Expectation: Tis the season to by jolly, fa la la la la…la la la la…this is so festive *holding hot chocolate in hand*
Reality: It’s freezing! And I forgot my gloves and hat! Brrr….

Lining Up To Take Santa Pictures At The Mall
Expectation: I can’t wait to take my child/niece/nephew/etc to meet Santa, I’m excited myself too!
Reality: Why isn’t this line moving? I’m hungry already and the child is whining 😦

Lighting Candles at Home
Expectation: Look at all these candles, it feels so cozy and festive!
Reality: *Checks every 10 seconds to make sure nothing has caught on fire*

Present Wrapping
Expectation: This year I’m going to wrap the presents in carefully picked out designs!
Reality: This Sephora/LUSH bag should suffice. Or, I hope the store does wrapping as well.

And here is a bonus for you bloggers/vloggers that can relate to this for sure haha!

Blogmas/Vlogmas
Expectation: It’s going to be awesome, content everyday leading up to Christmas!
Reality: Need to finish, need to edit, need to upload on time…*panic face*

Hope you all enjoyed today’s blogmas and had a good laugh! I’ll be announcing a giveaway tomorrow, so you might want to come back for that 😉
