VancityBox, as you can assume from the name, is a Vancouver based subscription box company that recently launched in February 2016. I am always keen on trying new locally made goodies, and that is what this box is all about. For $49.95CAD a month, you will receive a box of 5-8 carefully selected products made by local Vancouverites. The total value of all items is about $80CAD. Shipping is included in the pricing, so you don’t have to worry about extra charges. Currently VancityBox only offers shipping within Canada.
What I received in this month’s box
In A Jar – ready to eat pie, in a jar, need I say more? It was really delicious!!!
Cabin + Cub – wooden pin, the finishing on this delicate piece is amazing!
CraftedVan – East Van sign bookmark. I’m probably slightly biased when I say you have to check out these bookmarks, as I went to the same post-secondary school as the lovely ladies behind CraftedVan 🙂 You gotta admit though, they have some pretty cute designs!
Balmbay Collective – mmmmm coffee. Now you can literally shower/bath in it too haha!
Pure² Salon – lavender goat milk soap. I haven’t tried it yet, but it smells amazing and I’m assuming it will be really creamy!
Fox and Fancy – I absolutely love the approach for this tote bag for the summer. Vancouver is known as a ‘no fun city’ (its not true!), but deep down, a Vancouverite will always love this city. Also a note pad for those (like me) that always likes to write down my thoughts, ideas, or a restaurant I want to try soon!
In addition to the items above, the box also includes a variety of discount codes for businesses that were both featured and not featured in this month’s box, and discounts for admission to local events.
Overall, I loved the VancityBox. Although the price of $49.95 is higher than quite a few other subscription boxes out there, please do keep in mind what you are paying for though. Supporting local businesses and receiving a box full of unique items you may not have discovered otherwise.
